As part of the May 1-7, 2011 National Road Alliance Caravan of Bells, which celebrated the bicentennial of the beginning of construction of the Historic National Road, the group participated in an event at the Old National Road Condominiums in Columbus. During the May 4 th ceremony, State Senator Charleta Tavares presented a Resolution honoring the National Road’s Bicentennial to the Ohio National Road Association. Senate Resolution No. 63 which was adopted on April 19, 2011 and signed by Ohio Senate President Tom Niehaus, was accepted by ONRA Board member Jonathan Beard. During the May 1-7, 2011 National Road Alliance “Caravan of Bells”, which celebrated the bicentennial of the beginning of construction of the Historic National Road, Ohio welcomed the group in an event at the Government Center in Englewood. During the May 3rd ceremony, Englewood Mayor Patricia Burnside honored the National Road’s Bicentennial by presenting this Proclamation to Ohio National Road Association Board member Cyndie Gerken, who accepted on ONRA’s behalf. During the May 20-23, 2007 National Scenic Byways Conference in Baltimore, MD the Ohio National Road Association received this National Scenic Byways Award in the Planning category for their Ohio Historic National Road Design Handbook. The award was accepted by ONRA Board members Denna Johnson, Glenn Harper, Lynn Kartavich, Marian Vance, Cyndie Gerken, and Clark-County-Springfield TCC Director Thea Walsh. On September 19, 2006 Governor Bob Taft honored the Ohio National Road Association for its part in raising awareness of the significance of the Village of Tadmor in Ohio’s history.  As part of the 2006 bicentennial celebration of President Thomas Jefferson’s signing of the legislation authorizing the construction of the Historic National Road, the Ohio Historical Society (OHS) awarded grants for three historical markers. These grants were funded through the Longaberger Legacy Initiative and its association with the Ohio Bicentennial Commission. At the September 19 th unveiling of the OHS National Road Historical Marker commemorating the Village of Tadmor, this Certificate of Recognition was presented to ONRA Board members Mark Davis and Ed Kemper, who accepted it on ONRA’s behalf. Shown here is a Certificate of Commendation from the Ohio Historical Society (OHS) given to Five Rivers MetroParks and the Ohio National Road Association for their recognition of the Village of Tadmor as an important site on the Historic National Road. In conjunction with the October 14, 2006 re-opening of the newly-renovated Pennsylvania House, an OHS National Road Historical Marker was unveiled and this Certificate of Recognition was presented to ONRA Board member Cyndie Gerken, who accepted it on behalf of ONRA.
