Annual Meeting

November 22, 2011

The Ohio National Road Association held its Annual Meeting on November 15, 2011. This year’s meeting provided a nice opportunity to review our 2011 accomplishments, re-appoint Board members and enjoy a delicious meal at the Spaghetti Warehouse, located on the historic National Road in Columbus . Dinner was followed by a brief business meeting and the presentation of the 2011 Milestone awards. Follow this link to see the event Program.

The Glenn A. Harper Endowment for Preservation on the Historic National Road in Ohio officially went "over the top" in September. But the total net amount raised at this fall’s Lewisburg fund raisers was ceremonially presented to Springfield Foundation's Horton Hobbs (pictured on left) by Fund namesake Glenn Harper at the Annual Meeting.

The winner of this year's ONRA Milestone Leadership Award was Columbus businessman Jonathan Beard "in recognition of his unwavering efforts to promote the original route of the National Road through downtown Columbus, and for his continued accomplishments in the renovation and rejuvenation of east Columbus neighborhoods along the National Road." Jon was instrumental in the addition of a four-page East Main Street section in the fourth edition of our popular booklet, A Traveler's Guide to the Historic National Road in Ohio. Pictured (left to right) are award winner Jonathan Beard, ONRA President Dean Ringle, and ONRA recent-past President Cyndie Gerken.
ONRA's 2011 Milestone Preservation Award was presented to Clark County's Jim and Nike Lagos for their "steadfast commitment to and investment in the preservation and revitalization of downtown Springfield through the restoration and rehabilitation of the historic Bushnell Building, located on Main Street, the original route of the National Road." Pictured (left to right) are: ONRA President Dean Ringle, recent-past President Cyndie Gerken, award winner Jim Lagos, his daughter Thalia, and wife Nike Lagos.
ONRA’s table top display was put to good use again and has proven to be a valuable tool for both marketing and educating others about the historic National Road in Ohio.
