This book by ONRA Past-President Cyndie Gerken details the history of stone mile markers along the National Road. A total of 175 of these mile stones, which gave the distance to Cumberland, Maryland where the National Road had started, and to the nearest towns and county seats, could once be seen along the National Road in Ohio. This publication provides the historic and present location of each Ohio mile stone along with photographs of every known surviving marker. Interspersed throughout the book are historic and recent images of nearby Ohio National Road landmarks, including bridges, taverns, automobile-era motels and other points of interest. A discussion of the so-called Dayton Cutoff is also included since it is considered to be part of the history of the National Road in Ohio.
